READING: Acts 3:
1 - 10
1
Now Peter and John went up into the temple at the ninth hour of
prayer.
2
And a certain man who was lame from his mother's womb, was carried:
whom they laid every day at the gate of the temple, which is called
Beautiful, that he might ask alms of them that went into the temple.
3
He, when he had seen Peter and John about to go into the temple,
asked to receive an alms.
4
But Peter with John fastening his eyes upon him, said: Look upon us.
5
But he looked earnestly upon them, hoping that he should receive
something of them.
6
But Peter said: Silver and gold I have none; but what I have, I give
thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, arise, and walk.
7
And taking him by the right hand, he lifted him up, and forthwith his
feet and soles received strength.
8
And he leaping up, stood, and walked, and went in with them into the
temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
9
And all the people saw him walking and praising God.
10
And they knew him, that it was he who sat begging alms at the
Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and
amazement at that which had happened to him.

Day to day uttereth speech, and night to night sheweth knowledge.

There are no speeches nor languages, where their voices are not

1: 11 - 20

For I give you to understand, brethren, that the gospel which was
preached by me is not according to man.

For neither did I receive it of man, nor did I learn it; but by the
revelation of Jesus Christ.
13
For you have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews'
religion: how that, beyond measure, I persecuted the church of God,
and wasted it.
14
And I made progress in the Jews' religion above many of my equals in
my own nation, being more abundantly zealous for the traditions of my
fathers.
15
But when it pleased him, who separated me from my mother's womb, and
called me by his grace,
16
To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the Gentiles,
immediately I condescended not to flesh and blood.
17
Neither went I to Jerusalem, to the apostles who were before me: but
I went into Arabia, and again I returned to Damascus.
18
Then, after three years, I went to Jerusalem, to see Peter, and I
tarried with him fifteen days.
19
But other of the apostles I saw none, saving James the brother of the
Lord.
20
Now the things which I write to you, behold, before God, I lie not.

When therefore they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter: Simon son
of John, lovest thou me more than these? He saith to him: Yea, Lord,
thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him: Feed my lambs.

He saith to him again: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? He saith
to him: Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him:
Feed my lambs.
17
He said to him the third time: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me?
Peter was grieved, because he had said to him the third time: Lovest
thou me? And he said to him: Lord, thou knowest all things: thou
knowest that I love thee. He said to him: Feed my sheep.
18
Amen, amen I say to thee, when thou wast younger, thou didst gird
thyself, and didst walk where thou wouldst. But when thou shalt be
old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee,
and lead thee whither thou wouldst not.
19
And this he said, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And
when he had said this, he saith to him: Follow me.

FIRST
READING: Acts 12:
1 - 11
1
And at the same time, Herod the king stretched forth his hands, to
afflict some of the church.
2
And he killed James, the brother of John, with the sword.
3
And seeing that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to take up Peter
also. Now it was in the days of the Azymes.
4
And when he had apprehended him, he cast him into prison, delivering
him to four files of soldiers to be kept, intending, after the pasch,
to bring him forth to the people.
5
Peter therefore was kept in prison. But prayer was made without
ceasing by the church unto God for him.
6
And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was
sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers
before the door kept the prison.
7
And behold an angel of the Lord stood by him: and a light shined in
the room: and he striking Peter on the side, raised him up, saying:
Arise quickly. And the chains fell off from his hands.
8
And the angel said to him: Gird thyself, and put on thy sandals. And
he did so. And he said to him: Cast thy garment about thee, and
follow me.
9
And going out, he followed him, and he knew not that it was true
which was done by the angel: but thought he saw a vision.
10
And passing through the first and the second ward, they came to the
iron gate that leadeth to the city, which of itself opened to them.
And going out, they passed on through one street: and immediately the
angel departed from him.
11
And Peter coming to himself, said: Now I know in very deed, that the
Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of
Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

In the Lord shall my soul be praised: let the meek hear and rejoice.

O magnify the Lord with me; and let us extol his name together.

I sought the Lord, and he heard me; and he delivered me from all my
troubles.

Come ye to him and be enlightened: and your faces shall not be
confounded.

This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him: and saved him out of all
his troubles.

The angel of the Lord shall encamp round about them that fear him:
and shall deliver them.
8
O taste, and see that the Lord is sweet: blessed is the man that
hopeth in him.
9
Fear the Lord, all ye his saints: for there is no want to them that
fear him.

For I am even now ready to be sacrificed: and the time of my
dissolution is at hand.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept
the faith.

As to the rest, there is laid up for me a crown of justice, which the
Lord the just judge will render to me in that day: and not only to
me, but to them also that love his coming. Make haste to come to me
quickly.

But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that by me the
preaching may be accomplished, and that all the Gentiles may hear:
and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
18
The Lord hath delivered me from every evil work: and will preserve me
unto his heavenly kingdom, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Matthew 16:
13 - 19

And Jesus came into the quarters of Caesarea Philippi: and he asked
his disciples, saying: Whom do men say that the Son of man is?
14
But they said: Some John the Baptist, and other some Elias, and
others Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15
Jesus saith to them: But whom do you say that I am?
16
Simon Peter answered and said: Thou art Christ, the Son of the living
God.
17
And Jesus answering, said to him: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona:
because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father
who is in heaven.
18
And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will
build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19
And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And
whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in
heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be
loosed also in heaven.
