"Jesus Weeps Over Jerusalem" by James Tissot |
FIRST
READING: Revelation
5: 1 - 10
1
And I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a
scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals;
2
and I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is
worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?"
3
And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open
the scroll or to look into it,
4
and I wept much that no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to
look into it.
5
Then one of the elders said to me, "Weep not; lo, the Lion of
the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can
open the scroll and its seven seals."
6
And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the
elders, I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with
seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God
sent out into all the earth;
7
and he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was
seated on the throne.
8
And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the
twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp,
and with golden bowls full of
incense,
which are the prayers of the saints;
9
and they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy art thou to take the
scroll and to open its seals, for thou wast slain and by thy blood
didst ransom men for God from
every
tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10
and hast made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall
reign on earth."
PSALM:
Psalms 148:
1 - 6, 9
1
Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens, praise him in the
heights!
2
Praise him, all his angels, praise him, all his host!
3
Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars!
4
Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens!
5
Let them praise the name of the LORD! For he commanded and they were
created.
6
And he established them for ever and ever; he fixed their bounds
which cannot be passed.
9
Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars!
GOSPEL:
Luke 19:
41 - 44
41
And when he drew near and saw the city he wept over it,
42
saying, "Would that even today you knew the things that make for
peace! But now they are hid from your eyes.
43
For the days shall come upon you, when your enemies will cast up a
bank about you and surround you, and hem you in on every side,
44
and dash you to the ground, you and your children within you, and
they will not leave one stone upon another in you; because you did
not know the time of your visitation."

Day Mass
FIRST
READING: Sirach
50: 22 - 24
22
And now bless the God of all, who in every way does great things; who
exalts our days from birth, and deals with us according to his mercy.
23
May he give us gladness of heart, and grant that peace may be in our
days in Israel, as in the days of old.
24
May he entrust to us his mercy! And let him deliver us in our days!
PSALM:
Psalms 138:
1 - 5
1
I give thee thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart; before the gods I
sing thy praise;
2
I bow down toward thy holy temple and give thanks to thy name for thy
steadfast love and thy faithfulness; for thou hast exalted above
everything thy name and thy
word.
3
On the day I called, thou didst answer me, my strength of soul thou
didst increase.
4
All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, for they have
heard the words of thy mouth;
5
and they shall sing of the ways of the LORD, for great is the glory
of the LORD.

READING: 1
Corinthians 1: 3 - 9
3
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4
I give thanks to God always for you because of the grace of God which
was given you in Christ Jesus,
5
that in every way you were enriched in him with all speech and all
knowledge 6 even as the testimony to Christ was confirmed among you
--
7
so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift, as you wait for
the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ;
8
who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord
Jesus Christ.
9
God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his
Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
GOSPEL:
Luke 17:
11 - 19
11
On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Sama'ria and
Galilee.
12
And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a
distance
13
and lifted up their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, have mercy
on us."
14
When he saw them he said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the
priests." And as they went they were cleansed.
15
Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back,
praising God with a loud voice;
16
and he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. Now he was
a Samaritan.
17
Then said Jesus, "Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine?
18
Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this
foreigner?"
19
And he said to him, "Rise and go your way; your faith has made
you well."
