Note:
The first set of readings are for Thanksgiving Day in the United
States. The second set of readings are for everywhere else, Thursday
Of The Thirty-Fourth Week In Ordinary Time
FIRST
READING:
Sirach 50:
22 - 24
22
And now pray ye to the God of all, who hath done great things in all
the earth, who hath increased our days from our mother's womb, and
hath done with us according to his mercy.
23
May he grant us joyfulness of heart, and that there be peace in our
days in Israel for ever:
24
That Israel may believe that the mercy of God is with us, to deliver
us in his days.
PSALM:
Psalms 145:
2 - 11
2
Every day I will bless thee: and I will praise thy name for ever;
yea, for ever and ever.
3
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: and of his greatness
there is no end.
4
Generation and generation shall praise thy works: and they shall
declare thy power.
5
They shall speak of the magnificence of the glory of thy holiness:
and shall tell thy wondrous works.
6
And they shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and shall
declare thy greatness.
7
They shall publish the memory of the abundance of thy sweetness: and
shall rejoice in thy justice.
8
The Lord is gracious and merciful: patient and plenteous in mercy.
9
The Lord is sweet to all: and his tender mercies are over all his
works.
10
Let all thy works, O lord, praise thee: and let thy saints bless
thee.
11
They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom: and shall tell of thy
power.
SECOND
READING:
1 Corinthians
1: 3 - 9
3
Grace to you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus
Christ.
4
I give thanks to my God always for you, for the grace of God that is
given you in Christ Jesus,
5
That in all things you are made rich in him, in all utterance, and in
all knowledge;
6
As the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you,
7
So that nothing is wanting to you in any grace, waiting for the
manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
8
Who also will confirm you unto the end without crime, in the day of
the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9
God is faithful: by whom you are called unto the fellowship of his
Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
GOSPEL:
Luke 17:
11 - 19
11
And it came to pass, as he was going to Jerusalem, he passed through
the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
12
And as he entered into a certain town, there met him ten men that
were lepers, who stood afar off;
13
And lifted up their voice, saying: Jesus, master, have mercy on us.
14
Whom when he saw, he said: Go, shew yourselves to the priests. And it
came to pass, as they went, they were made clean.
15
And one of them, when he saw that he was made clean, went back, with
a loud voice glorifying God.
16
And he fell on his face before his feet, giving thanks: and this was
a Samaritan.
17
And Jesus answering, said, Were not ten made clean? and where are the
nine?
18
There is no one found to return and give glory to God, but this
stranger.
19
And he said to him: Arise, go thy way; for thy faith hath made thee
whole.
Thursday Of The Thirty-Fourth Week In Ordinary Time
FIRST
READING:
Revelation 18:
1 - 2, 21 - 23; 19:
1 - 3, 9
1
And after these things, I saw another angel come down from heaven,
having great power: and the earth was enlightened with his glory.
2
And he cried out with a strong voice, saying: Babylon the great is
fallen, is fallen; and is become the habitation of devils, and the
hold of every unclean spirit, and the hold of every unclean and
hateful bird:
21
And a mighty angel took up a stone, as it were a great millstone, and
cast it into the sea, saying: With such violence as this shall
Babylon, that great city, be thrown down, and shall be found no more
at all.
22
And the voice of harpers, and of musicians, and of them that play on
the pipe, and on the trumpet, shall no more be heard at all in thee;
and no craftsman of any art whatsoever shall be found any more at all
in thee; and the sound of the mill shall be heard no more at all in
thee;
23
And the light of the lamp shall shine no more at all in thee; and the
voice of the bridegroom and the bride shall be heard no more at all
in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth, for all
nations have been deceived by thy enchantments.
1
After these things I heard as it were the voice of much people in
heaven, saying: Alleluia. Salvation, and glory, and power is to our
God.
2
For true and just are his judgments, who hath judged the great harlot
which corrupted the earth with her fornication, and hath revenged the
blood of his servants, at her hands.
3
And again they said: Alleluia. And her smoke ascendeth for ever and
ever.
9
And he said to me: Write: Blessed are they that are called to the
marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith to me: These words of God
are true.
PSALM:
Psalms 100:
1 - 5
1
Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the lands!
2
Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!
3
Know that the LORD is God! It is he that made us, and we are his; we
are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give
thanks to him, bless his name!
5
For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures for ever, and his
faithfulness to all generations.
GOSPEL:
Luke 21:
20 - 28
20
And when you shall see Jerusalem compassed about with an army; then
know that the desolation thereof is at hand.
21
Then let those who are in Judea, flee to the mountains; and those who
are in the midst thereof, depart out: and those who are in the
countries, not enter into it.
22
For these are the days of vengeance, that all things may be
fulfilled, that are written.
23
But woe to them that are with child, and give suck in those days; for
there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this
people.
24
And they shall fall by the edge of the sword; and shall be led away
captives into all nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the
Gentiles; till the times of the nations be fulfilled.
25
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the
stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, by reason of the
confusion of the roaring of the sea and of the waves;
26
Men withering away for fear, and expectation of what shall come upon
the whole world. For the powers of heaven shall be moved;
27
And then they shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud, with great
power and majesty.
28
But when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up
your heads, because your redemption is at hand.
