FIRST
READING: Genesis 3:9-15
9
And the Lord God called Adam, and said to him: Where art thou?
10
And he said: I heard thy voice in paradise; and I was afraid, because
I was naked, and I hid myself.
11
And he said to him: And who hath told thee that thou wast naked, but
that thou hast eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou
shouldst not eat?
12
And Adam said: The woman, whom thou gavest me to be my companion,
gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13
And the Lord God said to the woman: Why hast thou done this? And she
answered: The serpent deceived me, and I did eat.
14
And the Lord God said to the serpent: Because thou hast done this
thing, thou art cursed among all cattle, and beasts of the earth:
upon thy breast shalt thou go, and earth shalt thou eat all the days
of thy life.
15 I
will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her
seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her
heel.
PSALM:
Psalms 130:1-8
1
Out of the depths I have cried to thee, O Lord:
2
Lord, hear my voice. Let thy ears be attentive to the voice of my
supplication.
3 If
thou, O Lord, wilt mark iniquities: Lord, who shall stand it.
4
For with thee there is merciful forgiveness: and by reason of thy
law, I have waited for thee, O Lord. My soul hath relied on his word:
5 My
soul hath hoped in the Lord.
6
From the morning watch even until night, let Israel hope in the Lord.
7
Because with the Lord there is mercy: and with him plentiful
redemption.
8
And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
SECOND
READING: 2 Corinthians 4:13--5:1
13
But having the same spirit of faith, as it is written: I believed,
for which cause I have spoken; we also believe, for which cause we
speak also:
14
Knowing that he who raised up Jesus, will raise us up also with
Jesus, and place us with you.
15
For all things are for your sakes; that the grace abounding through
many, may abound in thanksgiving unto the glory of God.
16
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man is
corrupted, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
17
For that which is at present momentary and light of our tribulation,
worketh for us above measure exceedingly an eternal weight of glory.
18
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things
which are not seen. For the things which are seen, are temporal; but
the things which are not seen, are eternal.
1
For we know, if our earthly house of this habitation be dissolved,
that we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal
in heaven.
GOSPEL:
Mark 3:20-35
20 And they come to a house, and the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
21 And when his friends had heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him. For they said: He is become mad.
22 And the scribes who were come down from Jerusalem, said: He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of devils he casteth out devils.
23 And after he had called them together, he said to them in parables: How can Satan cast out Satan?
24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
26 And if Satan be risen up against himself, he is divided, and cannot stand, but hath an end.
27 No man can enter into the house of a strong man and rob him of his goods, unless he first bind the strong man, and then shall he plunder his house.
28 Amen I say to you, that all sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and the blasphemies wherewith they shall blaspheme:
29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, shall never have forgiveness, but shall be guilty of an everlasting sin.
30 Because they said: He hath an unclean spirit.
31 And his mother and his brethren came; and standing without, sent unto him, calling him.
32 And the multitude sat about him; and they say to him: Behold thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.
33 And answering them, he said: Who is my mother and my brethren?
34 And looking round about on them who sat about him, he saith: Behold my mother and my brethren.
35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, he is my brother, and my sister, and mother.
