FIRST READING: 1 Timothy 3: 14 - 16
14
These things I write to thee, hoping that I shall come to thee
shortly.
15
But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to
behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living
God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16
And evidently great is the mystery of godliness, which was manifested
in the flesh, was justified in the spirit, appeared unto angels, hath
been preached unto the Gentiles, is believed in the world, is taken
up in glory.
1
I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; in the council of
the just: and in the congregation.
2
Great are the works of the Lord: sought out according to all his
wills.
3
His work is praise and magnificence: and his justice continueth for
ever and ever.
4
He hath made a remembrance of his wonderful works, being a merciful
and gracious Lord:
5
He hath given food to them that fear him. He will be mindful for ever
of his covenant:
6
He will shew forth to his people the power of his works, that he may
give them the inheritance of the Gentiles.
31
And the Lord said: Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this
generation? and to what are they like?
32
They are like to children sitting in the marketplace, and speaking
one to another, and saying: We have piped to you, and you have not
danced: we have mourned, and you have not wept.
33
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and
you say: He hath a devil.
34
The Son of man is come eating and drinking: and you say: Behold a man
that is a glutton and a drinker of wine, a friend of publicans and
sinners.
35
And wisdom is justified by all her children.
